Just days after Kanye West had a pro-Hitler rant on social media, his Yeezy site is selling a white T-shirt imprinted with a black swastika.
The 24-time Grammy winner, who legally changed his name to “Ye” in 2021, reportedly also ran a commercial during Sunday’s Super Bowl LIX broadcast in select markets including Los Angeles. The commercial reportedly featured him in a dentist’s chair saying, “So what’s up, guys? I spent, like, all the money for the commercial on these new teeth. So once again, I had to shoot it on the iPhone. Um, um, um, go to Yeezy.com.”
Visitors to the Yeezy site will find a white T-shirt imprinted with a black swastika on the home page. The item is described as “HH-01” with no further information. No other products were displayed Monday afternoon.
A media request to representatives for Ye was not immediately returned Monday afternoon, nor was a media request to one of his attorneys. His “Ye” account on “X” had been deactivated Monday afternoon. His Instagram account was still accessible, but it no longer had the Yeezy post from last week.
Executives at Fox Sports, which aired the showdown between the Philadelphia Eagle and the Kansas City Chiefs, did not respond immediately to requests for comment.
Late last week Ye came under fire for antisemitic social media posts. At that time, he also announced a Yeezy collaboration with Sean Combs’ Sean John label. Combs, who is being held in the Manhattan Detention Center, is facing charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and prostitution. The 55-year-old multi-Grammy winner and Sean John clothing label founder has denied any wrongdoing.
In an Instagram post Monday, the Anti-Defamation League said the shirt sales are “further proof of Ye’s antisemitism,” and noted how the swastika was “adopted by Hitler as the primary emblem of the Nazis.”
The statement continued, “It galvanized his followers in the 20th century and continues to threaten and instill fear in those targeted by antisemitism and white supremacy. If that wasn’t enough, the T-shirt is labeled on Kanye’s site as ‘HH-01,’ which is code for ‘Heil Hitler.’”
Stating that Kanye was tweeting vile antisemitism nonstop since last week, the ADL said, “There’s no excuse for this kind of behavior. Even worse, Kanye advertised his website during the Super Bowl, amplifying it beyond his already massive social media audience.”
The ADL also posted information about its “Never Is Now” event in New York City on March 3 and 4, which it being touted as “the world’s largest summit on antisemitism and hate.”
In response to West’s antisemitic rants on “X” last week, the ADL’s chief executive office and national director Jonathan Greenblatt said in an issued statement, “Here we go again. Another egregious display of antisemitism, racism and misogyny from Ye on his X account this morning. Just a few years ago, ADL found that 30 antisemitic incidents nationwide were tied to Kanye’s 2022 antisemitic rants.”
Last year the National Football League’s Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers attracted 123.7 million viewers, according to Nielsen. Viewership figures for this year’s game have not yet been released.
