Justin Thomas won the RBC Heritage on Sunday and what a victory it was.
Thomas finished his 72nd hole at -17 for the tournament. Andrew Novak, seeing his first career win on Tour, was in the pairing behind him and had a putt on 18 with a chance to win it. Unfortunately for Novak he missed and the duo went to a playoff, just one week after The Masters took us to one as well.
JT was able to sink his birdie putt on the first playoff hole and in the process took home the win, his first as a husband and first as a father.
The start marked number 250 of JT’s career to date which is insane to think in and of its own right. While that is the case it also was the 59th start since Thomas won the 2022 PGA Championship which was his most recent victory on Tour prior to Sunday.
In securing the win Thomas became the first player this season to successfully convert an opening 18-hole lead into a victory. While he did not lead wire to wire JT did lead after both the first and second rounds of play.
While nothing can compare to Augusta, the RBC delivered some serious fun and intrigue across the weekend. This was the design of the PGA Tour’s signature events, after all.
Next on the schedule is the Zurich Classic of New Orleans where, speaking of The Masters, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are set to defend their title.
