Justin Bieber Laces Up Adidas Sambas for Soccer Game

Justin Bieber was feeling athletic in a pair of Adidas Samba sneakers on Tuesday as he participated in a soccer game as part of the indoor soccer league known as The League — he played for his team Skylrk FC.

Bieber wore the Samba Indoor Soccer Shoes in a black and white colorway, priced at $90 from the athletic brand, for the game. The shoes feature a soft leather upper with suede overlays providing extra abrasion resistance. A rubber outsole offers the grip needed to quickly change direction while an EVA insole makes for a smooth sprint. Bieber styled the sneakers with cozy knit socks in an electric blue color, which added flair to his athletic Adidas look.

The Samba has a long history dating back to Adidas founder Adi Dassler’s creation of the original version in 1949; it was first worn on a soccer pitch in 1950 for a game in Germany. The style has significantly evolved over the years and has become one of the most popular Adidas shoes. It’s been reimagined many times over, with this year alone bringing about a rhinestone-embellished version and a pony hair version among other twists on the silhouette.

While Bieber has released shoes through his own brand Skylrk this year, he has yet to put out sneakers through this label. His taste in sneakers can get adventurous — he was out recently wearing pink 3D-printed sneakers created in a collaboration between Finn Rush-Taylor Studio and Zellerfeld.

Skylrk, which started releasing products in July, has presented futuristic-looking slippers, including slides and mules, in addition to other items. Bieber’s wife Hailey Bieber, founder of Rhode, has shown support for Skylrk, having stepped out in chunky, modern mules from the brand before.
