Jordin Sparks joined the growing faction of celebrities leaning into the mesh shoe trend for the 7th Annual AAFCA TV Honors on Saturday in Los Angeles, arriving on the red carpet in a pair of Fendi’s Colibrì slingback pumps.
The pointed style was cut in the house’s FF monogram mesh, trimmed with matte black bands across the vamp and secured by elastic ribbon straps, including a two-tone striped band that wrapped the ankle. A plated metal heel, curved into a flared base, contrasted the sheer upper.

Sparks paired the pumps with a black pantsuit layered over a white bustier. The jacket featured a relaxed fit through the shoulders, while the trousers fell clean over the slingbacks. A layered belt and chain detail added an office siren edge, with loose curls, neutral glam and a black pendant necklace completing the look.

Mesh and translucent shoes have surfaced throughout the season. Quinta Brunson brought blush pink Paris Texas Lidia mules to Comic-Con, their mesh vamp balanced by glossy patent straps, while Rita Ora stepped out in New York in Sportmax plexiglass wedges from the brand’s spring runway. Emily Ratajkowski, Miley Cyrus and Angela Bassett have also turned to variations on the style over the summer, showing off the material’s appeal across silhouettes.
For Sparks, the Colibrì followed her June appearance at the BET Awards, where she paired a peach LaPointe gown with beige strappy sandals. The slender straps and feathered sleeves gave that look lightness; at the AAFCA event, the mesh slingbacks served the same role, opening up an otherwise structured suit.
The AAFCA TV Honors, now in its seventh year, honors diverse voices in television. Winners included Sterling K. Brown for “Paradise,” Kathy Bates for “Matlock” and the ensemble of “Bel-Air.”
