Jennifer Lopez put on a shimmering display at the 2024 Governors Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles. The “This Is Me…Now” singer looked to the runway for inspiration for her red-carpet-ready, couture look, marrying statement bead-work with a bevy of drama.
For the occasion, Lopez opted for a dress courtesy of Zuhair Murad‘s fall 2024 couture collection. The “Unstoppable” star’s look featured a semi-sheer fabric encrusted with all-over glittering charcoal gray jewels, including floral embellishments at the waist and at the neckline.
The plunging neckline of Lopez’s dress also featured a fabric draping element with the jeweled embellishments. The back of the dress featured a flowing train in black velvet, which began at the waist and side paneling of the dramatic dress.
When it came to her accessories, Lopez favored a few rings and subtle earrings. She also carried a small clutch courtesy of Tyler Ellis. Her glam included a voluminous straight hairdo, along with a makeup look that featured a hint a of a smokey eye and a nude lip. Her look was curated by stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn.
“This silhouette is really not the princess dress at all, she’s more structured, more strong, edgier, sexier,” Murad said of the style of dress for his fall 2024 couture collection. The collection made its debut during Paris Fashion Week last June.
“Jagged shards evoking a mirror broken in anger were embroidered across a minidress and a tailored leather jacket dress, while diagonal draping and knotting of jersey or embroidered slash motifs were like the scars of psychological wounds put on display, self-assured, for all to see,” Alex Wynne wrote of the collection in WWD’s review.
This is the second time in recent weeks Lopez favored a design courtesy of Zuhair Murad. The singer and actress wore a look from the designer’s spring 2024 couture collection on Nov. 9 for the Los Angeles premiere of “Wicked.”
