The Giants are thriving on the vibes right now, and they’re the vibes of a frat boy on a three day bender. Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo demolished the Eagles on Thursday Night Football, giving Giants fans a level of excitement and joy they haven’t experienced since thinking Tommy DeVito was actually good.
Dart and Skattebo are going to be the most divisive duo the NFL has seen in a long time. If you’re a Giants fan or own a lot of Kid Rock albums, then you’re absolutely going to love them. Everyone else is going to be so annoyed by these two, and it’s worse that they’re actually good — while communicating exclusively through grunts and headbutts.
We can’t even chalk this up to simply being amped on adrenaline during the game, because when the game ended Skattebo tore his shirt off with Ryan Fitzpatrick to participate in Fitz’s favorite past time: Inexplicably tearing off his shirt when nobody wants to see it.
It’s tough not to be impressed with what the Giants are doing. Dart hasn’t really had that signature passing game that stands out, but he’s showing a level of agility in the pocket that’s effectively mitigating New York’s offensive line issues, while also playing mistake free football. The more teams try to punish the bad offensive line, the most Dart makes them pay.
Meanwhile Skattebo is hitting the line so quickly up the middle that there isn’t even time for the blocking to either set up, or break down. Before the defense knows it he’s trying to hit the second level, and it’s creating a shock and awe effect that’s difficult for teams to deal with.
Off the field though, I dunno man, I just see Dart and Skattebo and think this stuff is corny as hell. They’re doing unbelievable things on the field, and making me cringe off of it.
