Earlier today, the deputy director of communications for former President Donald J. Trump posted a video on X that featured the White Stripesâ 2003 Elephant song âSeven Nation Army.â The aide, Margo Martin, has since deleted the post, but that did not stop Jack White from criticizing Martin and her boss. âOh….Donât even think about using my music you fascists,â White wrote on Instagram. âLaw suit coming from my lawyers about this.â
White continued by criticizing the Republican presidential candidate and a member of his campaign staff who, according to the Armyâs public affairs office, âpushed asideâ an Arlington National Cemetery employee during a wreath-laying ceremony earlier this week. âAnd as long as Iâm here, a double fuck you DonOLD for insulting our nationâs veterans at Arlington you scum,â White wrote. âYou should lose every military familyâs vote immediately from that if ANYTHING makes sense anymore.â
White is a longtime Trump critic who has sold âIcky Trumpâ T-shirts and previously condemned the usage of âSeven Nation Armyâ in Trump-supporting media. Heâs also criticized Elon Musk for allowing Trump back on X, and heâs called out celebrities who have associated themselves with the former president.
As the presidential election nears, musicians have been more outspoken against Donald Trump, in particular, over his musical choices. Among the biggest names to take issue with the Republican are Celine Dion, Beyoncé, Foo Fighters, and ABBA.
