It’s A $20,000 Bentley Continental GT, What’s The Worst That Could Happen?

When it comes to luxury cars, Bentley and Rolls-Royce are on a completely different level than more mainstream brands such as Audi and Mercedes. Yes, their interiors may include leather, wood, and metal accents, but they just aren’t ever going to be quite as nice as a proper Bentley. Plus, there’s the part where you can get your Bentley with a W12 engine. And what if I told you that you could take home that your very own 2004 Bentley Continental GT for just under $20,000?

Head down to Queen Motorcars in Las Vegas, and a mere $19,999 gets you a 20-year-old Bentley with 70,000 miles on its W12 engine, and I honestly can’t think of a better way to spend that kind of money. If you head down to the nearest Kia dealer, you’ll probably end up paying more for a Kia Soul, and the Soul doesn’t even have eight cylinders under the hood, much less 12. And where’s the wood trim? How are people supposed to know how important you are if your car doesn’t have any wood trim?

Now, some people will say you shouldn’t buy a car that’s lost something like 85 or 90 percent of its value if you couldn’t afford to buy it new, but come on. How bad could a two-decade-old Bentley be, really? It’s just a car. And it’s not even a car built by a couple of drunk dudes in a shed somewhere. It’s a regular car built out of regular parts in a regular car factory. Sure, the parts may be a little more expensive than the ones you’d buy for a Kia Soul, but how often does something break on a modern car? Hardly ever, right? Besides, you can probably just fix everything with Jetta parts. It’s basically a Volkswagen Jetta, right?

Even if you do have to spend an average of a few thousand dollars a month keeping your car on the road, who cares? You’ll be driving a Bentley, and those loser friends who told you it was “a bad idea” will still be driving their crappy Toyotas or whatever. Can you really put a price tag on the kind of respect you’ll get when you tell people your other car is in the shop right now, but it really is a Bentley?

Since we live in a capitalist country, you actually can, and it’s $19,999. If you take out an 84-month loan, you’re probably looking at a monthly payment of about $250. Surely you can swing that, right? Even a high school kid working a minimum wage job while their parents cover their cost of living could afford a payment that low. That just leaves plenty of money left over for buying gas, which you’ll be doing a lot of in a car that averages 12 mpg.

In conclusion, this Bentley is inexpensive, you can definitely afford to buy it, you deserve a little treat and the cost of keeping it on the road is just a problem for Future You. I’m sure it’ll be fine. It’ll definitely be fine. And, I mean, if something does happen, just how bad could it be? Certainly not so bad that you’d regret spending $19,999 on a heavily depreciated Bentley. Just think about the engine. The W12 engine!
