In keeping with its environmental advocacy, Inside Out, the global holding company that was started by Suzy Amis Cameron has acquired green-minded brand, The Simple Folk.
Known for its organic womenswear, childrenswear and baby clothing, the lifestyle brand plays up well-being, transparency and responsible production.
The deal marks Inside Out’s first U.S. consumer acquisition and underscores its mission to redefine how business interacts with people and the planet.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Amis Cameron, Inside Out’s founder and chief executive officer, said: “Inside Out is about reimagining how business interacts with both people and planet. We found a lot of potential in The Simple Folk’s genuine connection to its community. By welcoming the brand into our ecosystem, we are proud to strengthen and evolve its commitment to care, quality, integrity and innovation, while inspiring greater awareness around textiles, health and well-being.”
For more than 30 years, the advocate, author and business entrepreneur has championed sustainable values in fashion, education and food.
This acquisition falls under Inside Out’s Fashion, Textiles and Home vertical, which is led by CEO Matteo Ward. The holding company has five other divisions — IO Food, IO Media, IO Education, IO Wellness and IO Science, Research and Technology.
Through the acquisition, Inside Out aims to strengthen The Simple Folk’s mission to support families around the globe to lead healthier and more responsible lifestyles, starting with the clothes they wear. Headed up by the newly appointed CEO Luis Gamardo, The Simple Folk will now be able to draw from the group’s cross-sector knowledge and research, its global reach and its long-term commitment to investing in sustainability-driven innovation.
WRÅD, a consulting studio that was acquired by Inside Out earlier this year, is working with The Simple Folk team to align the brand’s growth plan with Inside Out’s “Toward a Thriving Future” framework of aligning planetary and human health.
Gamardo said, “The Simple Folk has always believed clothing is more than fabric — it’s a reflection of principle and care. Becoming part of Inside Out allows us to scale this vision globally, supported by a collective that shares our values and is dedicated to shaping a thriving future for generations to come.
This acquisition follows Inside Out’s ongoing investments in purposeful brands, including Sheep Inc., a U.K.-based brand with a fully traceable supply chain, and the aforementioned WRÅD, the consulting studio cofounded by Ward. Companies under the Inside Out Fashion, Textiles and Home umbrella share an awareness that the health of all living beings is affected by what people choose to put on their bodies.
With The Simple Folk, Inside Out said it is strengthening its commitment to reshaping the fashion industry by prioritizing care, responsibility and ecological sensitivity among other things.
