i-D Magazine Relaunches Website With Charli XCX, Troye Sivan on Cover

LONDON — After a seven-month hiatus i-D Magazine is back online with Charli XCX and Troye Sivan on the homepage of its newly relaunched website.

The September 2024 digital cover also features i-D Magazine’s winking logo inside a star shape, which the brand has been using on social media.

The publication has relaunched the website under its new owners, Bedford Media, where Karlie Kloss is chairwoman. Bedford acquired i-D in November 2023.

The site has had a sleek redesign, is easy to scroll and reflects the magazine’s youthful visual language with strong photography.

Kloss, the founder of Kode With Klossy, a nonprofit that hosts free summer coding camps for teenage girls, has also incorporated better navigation on the website and improved the search functionality for easier access to the magazine’s archive.

“I-D has always been at the forefront of cultural movements, and our relaunch with Charli and Troye builds on this legacy. The new i-D.co embraces a visual-first philosophy, perfectly capturing the spirit of what i-D has always stood for: striking imagery and compelling storytelling,” Kloss said.

I-D Magazine’s fun take on youth culture and celebration of London’s up-and-coming characters has also returned.

The lead story on the new website is a portfolio of Londoners talking about their style and answering lighthearted questions such as, “What song do you have on repeat?” and “What do you love about London?”

The new website has streamlined the publication’s expansive categories by focusing on five key subjects: fashion, culture, music, art and film.

The relaunch of the website marks all the changes happening at i-D Magazine and the anticipated comeback of the print magazine.

In August, WWD learned that British Vogue’s vice president of brand revenue, Michiel Steur, was joining i-D Magazine as its chief commercial officer.

He will report directly to Nicole Muniz, chief executive officer of Bedford Media. Steur will be working on the print magazine and digital website.

New platforms will be unveiled later in the year, and a new editor in chief will be named.

As reported, Alastair McKimm stepped down from his role as editor in chief of i-D in February. The magazine’s global editorial director, Olivia Singer; fashion features director, Osman Ahmed, and features editor Mahoro Seward left the company shortly after.
