Hillary, Chelsea Clinton Match in Purple at Clinton Global Initiative

Hillary and Chelsea Clinton hosted the first day of the Clinton Global Initiative on Monday. For their appearance at the annual event, just like last year, the two chose coordinating outfits, this time in shades of purple.

Hillary wore a pantsuit, a style she has become known for over the years. While speaking with Matt Damon, the former Secretary of State was seen in the vibrant ensemble, which featured cuffed sleeves and a narrow collar. She completed her look with a pair of low, pointed-toe slip-ons.

As she did last year, Chelsea selected a belted dress. The feminine style included a thin belt as well as puffed sleeves. A midi style, the Oscar de la Renta design also features a scooped neckline.

The Clintons have long been fans of Oscar de la Renta. Hillary met the designer during her first year as first lady while wearing a piece from his brand that she’d bought off-the-rack. De la Renta was instrumental in getting Hillary her 1998 cover of Vogue, where she wore the brand. Hillary even wore a custom de la Renta dress to Chelsea’s wedding. The family has continued to stay true to the brand after the namesake designer’s 2014 death.

Current Oscar de la Renta designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia are having a moment. The co-creative directors also preside over their own label Monse, which dressed former First Lady Michelle Obama in a much-discussed moment from this year’s Democratic National Convention.

Earlier this month, global music star Taylor Swift wore two designs from the label the night of MTV’s Video Music Awards.
