Harry Styles Has Doubled Down on the Ballet Flat Trend

Musician and marathoner Harry Styles might know a thing or two about running shoes, but he also has a penchant for ballet flats. The superstar is doubling down on the footwear style amid his latest musical era, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.”

Styles has reemerged into the public sphere to promote his fourth solo studio effort, which was released on March 6 and features tracks like “Aperture” and “Dance No More.” Throughout the past several weeks, a certain dance-inspired shoe style has come up again and again in his sartorial displays.

The musician made an appearance at the Grammys on his birthday, Feb. 1, wearing a Dior by Jonathan Anderson look, including jeans and a glittering, cropped blazer with a structured flare. The shoes grounding this ensemble were mint green mule flats, which maintained ballerina inspiration with a dainty bow and cutout; Styles modeled the shoes with white socks. At Dior, Anderson works alongside Nina Christen, his design director of shoes.

Styles attended the 2026 Brit Awards on Feb. 28, where he took to the stage for an enlivened performance of “Aperture,” which showed off his dance moves. On the red carpet for the event, he was suited up in Chanel. He wore a bouclé pinstriped suit, featuring gaps in the striping, from the Métiers d’Art 2026 collection. The double-breasted jacket and baggy trousers were complemented by black leather ballerina flats from Chanel featuring a patent cap toe. The silhouette was classic, featuring a slim profile, low-cut vamp and round toe. Once again, a bow adornment completed the look, and he layered with white socks.

Next up, following the release of “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally,” Styles was tapped to host “Saturday Night Live” and serve as the musical guest on March 14. During his monologue, he wore a gray pinstriped Valentino suit with a blue tie — and, of course, black ballet flats.

The shoes made a return in a sketch called “Harry for Him,” which jokes about the star having a men’s clothing line at Target. He wore them with dark blue jeans and a two-toned jacket, and then again for his last appearance on the show. At the end, the shoes were paired with light blue jeans and a Chanel leopard-print jacket from the Métiers d’Art 2026 collection. Styles maintained the black-and-white color contrast and layered footwear look, pairing white socks with the dance-inspired shoes when they appeared on “SNL.”

Even before this latest slew of appearances, Styles has shown love for the ballet flat. He wears a white pair from Goddard on the cover of his third album, “Harry’s House”; the shoes make a subtle appearance, peeking out beneath an ensemble of wide-leg jeans and a blouse from the same label. The singer-songwriter is also a fan of the slim Prada Collapse sneakers which speak to the sneakerina trend.
