Haley Kalil’s Coachella Essentials
Coachella is coming in hot with two whole weekends of music-filled fun in the Colorado Desert, beginning tomorrow, April 12. If people watching is your sport of choice, one of the most thrilling parts of this iconic musical event with a massive crowd of cool kids rocking eye-catching looks can be a chance to catch a glimpse of your favorite stars, like former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and TikTok star Haley Kalil. Though she’s all about a good laugh, 32-year-old Kalil takes her Coachella beauty essentials seriously. Indeed, she’s a firm believer that carefully prepping what you’ll carry around with you from stage to stage in the desert heat shouldn’t play second fiddle to curating your ‘fits for this outing of a lifetime.
Kalil has over 20 million followers across TikTok and Instagram where she shares hilarious sketches and comedy routines that fans can’t get enough of, but if you’re a beauty lover like us, you’ll find yourself scrolling in awe of her flawless complexion with her signature pared-back makeup look. At this year’s Coachella, though, Kalil tells WWD she’s ready to switch things up.

“I wear the same light and natural look every single day. Even though I’m rocking mascara, lip liner, blush, concealer, you name it, I don’t do anything on the eyes,” Kalil tells WWD in an exclusive interview. “For the festival weekend, I love the idea of doing something unique and artsy and weird, so I brought all kinds of fun eyeshadows and liners.”
As Kalil gets ready to embrace the bold style of festival season glam, she’s packed eyeshadow pigments from top beauty brands like Makeup by Mario, Pat McGrath Labs, and Dior Beauty to get the Coachella party started. As a red carpet-style pro who’s always camera ready, Kalil knows to also pack her tried-and-true beauty favorites, like her Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer that she says is incredible for sensitive skin girlies.
“I love Korean-inspired makeup, like the use of light pink and blush tones throughout the face that deliver a doll-like appearance. I also love the ‘disco lips’ trend and any shiny, sparkling glosses,” Kalil shares, adding that her Coachella-ready makeup bag is already stuffed with lip glosses from Christian Louboutin, Charlotte Tilbury, and YSL Beauty.
Prepped with a bag of wide-ranging beauty gems, expect Kalil to experiment with her beauty looks all weekend long. She anticipates a bold, ombré lip look somewhere in there, courtesy of a red lip shade from Maybelline and her foolproof lip liner combo.
“I love over-lining. I put Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Lip Liner in Deep Taupe outside of my lips, and on the inside of my lips, I use Mac’s Lip Liner in Soar,” Kalil says.
Though looking and feeling your best is a priority for anyone attending Coachella, Kalil is also eager to let loose a little and experience those unscripted moments that end up becoming absolute highlights.
“Last year one of my friends dressed up as a crayon for Doja Cat’s ‘Paint the Town Red,’” Kalil tells us, laughing. “Literally painted head to toe in red, wearing a crayon costume — it was amazing!”
On the note of unscripted moments, Kalil encourages first-time festival-goers to just be themselves at Coachella, both experimenting with fun glam styles that add to the weekend experience and applying your everyday beauty staples that never fail. “That sun is bright, and sometimes a lot of makeup can draw attention to skin’s imperfections, even though I think all of that is B.S. anyways. You should have your skin look however you want!”
Besides a handful of beauty besties, Kalil is also packing the new Patrón El Alto Mini in her bag — a must-have to sip and sway to her favorite jams performed live on the big stage.
