Givenchy Debuts First Major Bag Launch under Sarah Burton

SNATCH IT UP: Givenchy is hoping customers will be raring to get hold of its new bag design, dubbed The Snatch, when it launches Thursday. The design is the first major handbag introduction since Sarah Burton joined the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned label as creative director in September 2024, and nods to the sensual aesthetic of her ready-to-wear designs.

Described by the brand as “a study in intimacy” and a balance of “strength and fluidity,” The Snatch has curved forms echoing a cinched jacket, a waistline or the curves of a bra — the latter plays a key role in Burton’s spring 2026 collection for the brand.

The parallels are knocked home in visuals featuring French model Emeline Hoareau, who appeared in Burton’s debut campaign for Givenchy last August and walked in both her ready-to-wear shows for the brand so far. Her hair slicked back, Hoareau posed for David Sims with the bag in looks including the sculpted black leather bra and matching draped wrap skirt from the spring 2026 collection that she sported on the runway last October.

Made from calf-grain leather with contrasting napa lining and available in three sizes, the graphic piece is made using the inside-out construction technique. It features a rounded central aperture detail and strips of leather that dangle as extensions of its handles, and can be carried by hand or over the shoulder, as well as across the body for the small version. Metallic hardware in a choice of gold or silver hues includes a chain that locks on to the zipper fastening. Colorways include classic black, eggplant, dark brown and taupe, and there are also more vibrant versions in baby pink, red, cream or black with ivory.
