Filip Jakubcik hole in one at Open Championship practice round

Special things happen at the Open Championship.

On Tuesday, with the tournament’s official beginning two days away, players were obviously out getting in practice and preparation so that when the lights turn green they are good to go.

Being around such a prestigious golf course in the middle of Ireland has to be something that washes over you, especially if you are teeing it up in the tournament. Golf overseas is simply a different thing and sometimes magical things happen.

Such was the case for the Czech Republic’s Filip Jakubcik as he did the unthinkable… a hole in one. Seriously. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Jakubcik calls the University of Arizona home at the moment, but he was a part of the International team at the 2024 Palmer Cup in Ireland so he is familiar with the area to say the least. How he fares in the Open itself obviously remains to be seen, but he is already walking away from Royal Portrush with an all-time memory.

Congratulations to Filip!
