FEAR IN PARIS: Fear of God swept into the Belle Étoile penthouse suite at Le Meurice during Paris Men’s Fashion Week to showcase its pre-fall 2025 collection and pieces from its new partnership with the NBA.
The U.S. brand, founded by Jerry Lorenzo in Los Angeles, chose to stage an event in Paris to coincide with a series of NBA games taking place in the French capital, and did it in style.
As reported in November, the brand has inked a new partnership with the NBA and WNBA that “creates a new space in the industry and fills the demand for elevated and aspirational fan merchandise.”
Lorenzo, whose father was a professional baseball player and former coach and whose children play youth basketball, holds sports close to his heart — and his brand.
During the event, Fear of God did a great job of fusing sport with luxury. Guests were greeted with trays of Champagne and chocolate, and 360-degree views of Paris.
Inside the vast suite there were pieces from the Fear of God x NBA Paris collaboration (some of them done in the colors of the French flag), and the brand’s pre-fall 2025 collection.
Color-blocked NBA hoodies rubbed shoulders with long coats made of super-soft faux fur, roomy jackets that could double as coats, and robust wool suits and cotton shirts that took their cues from workwear.
Hoodies were styled under some of the chunky coats, reflecting the brand’s laid-back approach to tailoring.
Prints and graphics on some of the other clothing referenced Fisk University, the historic Black liberal arts institution in Nashville famous for its civil rights protests during the 20th and 21st centuries.
The brand’s chief executive officer Bastien Daguzan, who was wearing a wool and cashmere shacket, said the brand is all about Californian ease “and matching the market needs of today.”
Lorenzo, meanwhile, was wrapped up in the brand’s Eternal coat, a classic style that he said continues to be refined as the brand strives to deliver wardrobe solutions season after season.
