Fantasy football rankings: Top 30 D/STs for Week 7

Welcome to Week 7 of the fantasy football season. Before we look at the best D/ST plays this week, let’s take a look at which defenses are putting up the best numbers through six weeks and which offenses are giving up the most D/ST points per game.

If I told you the Colts and the Jaguars would be tied for the lead in D/ST fantasy points through six weeks, you may have thought I had lost my mind. But this is where we are, as both teams have legitimately good defenses so far. Of course, matchups and luck are key in D/ST prognostication, but you still have to be decent to land at the top. The jaguars 10 interceptions and two touchdowns are of course the driving factor, as they are not getting sacks, with just eight on the season.

One team that is accumulating their fantasy points by getting to the quarterback are the Broncos, who rank third in fantasy points overall. They have a whopping 30 sacks, which is 10 more than the second place Steelers, who have played one less game. The Steelers defense has stepped up after some truly awful play early on, but they are still an old defense and will need to find a way to stay healthy.

As for the teams who have been allowing these sacks and interceptions, the Vikings lead the way. JJ McCarthy was awful to start and Carson Wentz has been okay to awful so far. After them, the Burrow-less Bengals, Cam Ward, Justin Fields and Geno Smith have all helped D/STs put up strong numbers.
