F7 Meets Raspberry Pi – sUAS News

Here’s a sneak peek at the new product we’re working on. It combines the technology of our F7 flight controller alongside a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W enabling real time onboard computation and computer vision solutions for low cost autonomy.

This board can enable applications including:
● Onboard real time computer vision, object detection, and tracking. Uses the low cost Raspberry Pi Camera module, available in multiple configurations
● Low latency FPV video, telemetry, and control
● Advanced autonomy by leveraging the additional computing capabilities

All this comes in a low SWaP form factor, at 65x30x16mm, 33g and 4.5W.

Building on the features of the PrincipIoT F7, this design adds a quad core ARM Cortex-A53 processor with 512MB RAM, OpenGL ES1.1, 2.0 graphics, and hardware H.264 encode and decode. Combined with the Raspberry Pi Camera Module, this presents a full solution for low cost drone autonomy.

The flight controller and Raspberry Pi stack on the 40 pin GPIO header, with 2 UARTs connected between them.

Have an application where this can make a difference? Get in touch with us, we’re actively looking to get this into the hands of beta customers.
