In 2024, Kate Middletonâs public appearances reflected her cautious return to royal duties as she prioritized her health and family after announcing a cancer diagnosis in March. The royal stepped out of the spotlight, leading a private life through half of the year. She officially returned to public engagements in June when she joined her family at the Trooping the Colour ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London.
For the Trooping the Colour ceremony, Middleton wore a white and black dress by Jenny Packham, a brand that she wore many times before, including for the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth IIâs coronation in 2013.Â
During the menâs final of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in July, the royal brightened up the event in a purple dress by Safiyaa. According to Launchmetrics, her appearance wearing the British brand in the royal box for the Gentlemanâs Singles final between Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and Novak Djokovic of Serbia generated $4.8 million in media impact value for the label. Fans and admirers of the princess received an optimistic update about Middletonâs cancer treatment in September when she shared a heartfelt video announcing the end of her chemotherapy treatment.
âAlthough I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,â the Princess of Wales said in the video directed by Will Warr. âI am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.â
For the video, Middleton wore a floral midi dress by Veronica Beard, which features a ruffled hemline and button fastenings.
Since November, Middleton has been more active in her royal duties. She attended the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Nov. 9 wearing a black coat dress by Alexander McQueen with pearl jewelry. McQueen, a longtime favorite brand of the princess, was also her choice for her look at the âTogether at Christmasâ carol service event at Westminster Abbey on Dec. 6.
