Eve Air Mobility (NYSE: EVEX; EVEXW), a global leader in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, is unveiling advancements in its eVTOL program. The company highlights the evolution of its aircraft design, momentum in its rigorous testing program, and the continued development of its integrated service solution, TechCare.
“At Eve, we’re not aiming to be first to certification, our true objective is to provide the best solution for our customers,” said Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility. “Our rigorous test program isn’t about rushing to deadlines—it’s about methodical precision that ultimately accelerates our certification path. By taking deliberate steps now, we’re building a foundation for flawless execution to propel us forward with greater momentum and confidence when it matters most.”
Flight Testing Program Advances, Prepares for First Flight This Summer
Eve takes a measured and rigorous approach to its testing program, prioritizing comprehensive ground-based validation to ensure safety and compliance.
“Our approach is to ‘certify to fly, not fly to certify’,” said Luiz Valentini, chief technology officer at Eve Air Mobility. “We understand the responsibility of pioneering a new era of flight and are focusing on exhaustive ground testing, leveraging Embraer’s extensive experience in aircraft certification, to validate performance and ensure compliance before commencing flight tests.”
The company has already completed numerous component and systems tests and is now setting foot into vehicle integration and ground tests, with flight tests expected to begin this summer. The goal is to utilize five to six conforming prototypes to perform thousands of development and certification flights between 2025 and 2026.
Design Refinements Enhance Passenger Experience and Improve Operational Efficiency and Safety
Eve is revealing design updates to its eVTOL, underscored by a focus on safety, optimization, passenger experience, operational efficiency, and ease of transport. Key refinements to the eVTOL include:
· Wheeled Landing Gear Option: As an option at entry into service, Eve has introduced wheeled landing gear with optional lightweight skids, which provide enhanced ground maneuverability, minimize energy consumption during taxiing, and improve operational flexibility.
· Optimized Cabin Interior: The eVTOL interior now features lightweight seats to support energy-efficient operations and a full-flex cabin design, allowing up to 4 passengers to quickly convert between passenger and cargo configurations. This versatility maximizes aircraft utilization, adaptability, and passenger experience.
· Lifters and Pusher: Fixed-pitch lifters and one pusher, combined with an innovative and patented four-blade design, allow the lifter rotor blades to autonomously align with the pylons, reducing drag during the cruise phase. This design enhances performance and safety with built-in redundancy, and reduces noise and drag for quieter, more efficient urban flight operations.
· Aerodynamic Wing Design: A globally shippable, Embraer-optimized wing design—spanning 15 meters yet modular for standard container transport—delivers high performance, low complexity, and superior dispatch ability. It features a single actuator and aileron per side with no flaps.
· Intuitive Cockpit: The intuitive, four axis sidestick-only cockpit developed with Garmin and Crouzet—paired with Embraer’s 5th-gen fly-by-wire, delivers a streamlined pilot experience with a reduced workload.
Vector Joins TechCare Ecosystem for Enhanced UAM Efficiency and Reduced Downtime
One of Eve’s key differentiator lies in its comprehensive suite of integrated service solutions designed to support the entire lifecycle of eVTOL operations. TechCare, Eve’s all-in-one service portfolio for eVTOLs, provides a one-stop shop for maintaining airworthiness, tapping into Embraer’s global service centers to provide operators worldwide with access to its services as part of Embraer’s offerings.
Vector, an easily integrated air traffic management solution, is rolling under TechCare to provide integrated aftermarket solutions, creating a seamless and comprehensive service experience. This agnostic support, which includes managing takeoff and landing schedules, fleet planning, and traffic control, extends to other eVTOL manufacturers, further solidifying Eve’s commitment to the broader UAM (Urban Air Mobility) ecosystem.
Key offerings through TechCare include:
· Pilot Training: Leveraging Embraer-CAE Training Services, Eve provides access to global training centers staffed by aviation experts, addressing a critical need in the rapidly growing UAM industry.
· Maintenance: As part of Embraer’s global service centers, operators worldwide can access Eve’s services, a unique offering in the competitive landscape.
· Battery Exchange: Eve has selected BAE Systems, a company with a long and distinguished history of innovation in aerospace and defense, to provide the battery system for Eve’s electric aircraft. Their comprehensive solution ensures battery availability and streamlines logistics, giving operators peace of mind in their operations.
· Spare Parts: A comprehensive materials services portfolio and digital solutions for parts ordering ensure 24/7 support to operators and MROs across a global network, addressing a critical need for readily available components.
“Our integrated approach with TechCare provides operators with peace of mind and simplifies the complexities of UAM operations, all with a single monthly fee,” said Luiz Mauad, vice president of Customer Services. “This solution ensures aircraft operate as designed with readily available spare parts and optimized utilization, significantly reducing the risk of unexpected problems that would prevent the aircraft from flying.”
