Eugénie Trochu Leaves Vogue France

PARIS — Eugénie Trochu has left her position as head of editorial content at Vogue France, the company said Wednesday.

She stepped into the position in 2021 as part of sweeping changes that saw senior editors at various Condé Nast publications replaced by a new digitally savvy generation tasked with developing content to be shared across global editions.

In a message sent to staff, Anna Wintour, Condé Nast global chief content officer and Vogue editor in chief, said the search for her replacement was ongoing while deeming Trochu’s contributions “invaluable” during her 13 years as “part of the Vogue network.”

A graduate in literature and journalism of French university La Sorbonne, Trochu arrived at Condé Nast in 2011 as an intern at U.S. Vogue in Paris before moving to Vogue Paris, where she was fashion editor of the Vogue.fr website, as well as fashion and market editor of the magazine. Shortly after her 2021 elevation to head of editorial content, the magazine was renamed Vogue France.

In a separate message shared with WWD, Trochu said her next step would be “creating content that resembles [her], true to [her] tastes, expectations and views.”

In the interim, Vogue France will be led by Claire Thomson Jonville, a creative consultant and editor with a track record at magazines such as i-D France and Self Service who joined the company as global contributing editor in September.

She oversaw the French magazine’s December/January edition published on Nov. 29, which introduced a refresh of its layout and typography. Its headline proclaimed “La Renaissance du Chic.”

Meanwhile, Condé Nast France also saw the exit of Pierre M’Pelé, whose departure from GQ France after a three-year tenure as head of editorial content was announced in September.

His replacement is Claire Hazan, a journalist and producer who was previously head of podcasts at Spotify for France and Benelux after spending a decade in the Lagardère media group overseeing the editorial strategy and digital transformation of publications such as cinema magazine Première and Europe 1. She takes up the role from Friday.
