ePropelled Expands Sparrow Motor Line for UAVs

ePropelled has expanded its Sparrow line of high-efficiency brushless motors with three new models designed specifically for mission‑critical defense applications: the APM 1404, APM 2207.5, and APM 3115. The Sparrow propulsion family targets small UAVs, loitering munitions, ISR platforms, and autonomous systems where endurance, stealth, and payload flexibility are tightly linked to propulsion performance. According to the company, the new motors are engineered to deliver higher power density, environmental robustness, and reliability while maintaining a compact form factor.

Sparrow Line Targets High-Efficiency Defense Propulsion

The expanded Sparrow line is positioned to address growing demand for lightweight, high-efficiency propulsion solutions in modern defense platforms. Key characteristics across the Sparrow family include high efficiency for extended mission endurance, optimized power-to-weight ratios for small and mid-sized airframes, ruggedized construction for harsh environments, low acoustic signatures to support stealth-oriented missions, and what the company describes as industry-leading reliability for mission-critical deployments. These attributes are intended to enable defense customers to design more capable unmanned aerial systems without sacrificing size, weight, or power margins.

New Sparrow Brushless Motor Models

APM 1404: Ultra-Light Micro Propulsion

The APM 1404 Sparrow brushless motor is aimed at extremely compact platforms where every gram matters. ePropelled states that the motor delivers “exceptional thrust and efficiency at minimal weight,” making it a fit for micro-UAVs and short-range ISR drones that require minimal weight and maximum efficiency. In these applications, high-efficiency propulsion is critical to squeezing more flight time and functionality out of very small airframes.

APM 2207.5: High-Output Mini-Class Performance

Positioned as a high-output mini-class option, the APM 2207.5 Sparrow brushless motor is designed to balance power output with a compact form factor. The motor offers enhanced torque and thermal performance suited for small tactical UAVs, vertical-lift micro-systems, and electric tactical subsystems. This configuration is intended to support platforms that need responsive thrust and sustained performance under higher loads or more aggressive flight profiles.

APM 3115: High-Power Tactical-Grade Motor

At the upper end of the new lineup, the APM 3115 Sparrow brushless motor is described as a high-power, tactical-grade propulsion unit. Engineered for demanding mission profiles, it delivers robust propulsion performance for loitering munitions, medium-range ISR drones, and hybrid tactical platforms. The focus at this level is on maintaining endurance and power under challenging operational and environmental conditions.

Commitment to Defense-Oriented Propulsion Innovation

“As defense requirements evolve, propulsion technology must evolve with them,” said Nick Grewal, CEO at ePropelled. “By expanding our Sparrow line, we’re providing system integrators and defense innovators with industry standard motors and propulsion systems that are smaller, more efficient, more powerful, and more reliable than ever before.” The company notes that it continues to work with defense organizations worldwide to deliver propulsion and power systems for next-generation unmanned and autonomous platforms. The APM 1404, APM 2207.5, and APM 3115 Sparrow brushless motors are available now on ePropelled’s website, where full technical specifications and performance data are provided.
