Elsa Hosk Revives Mugler’s 1995 Knit Mesh Gown at Cannes Film Festival

Elsa Hosk wore a piece of fashion history on the red carpet for “The History of Sound” premiere on Wednesday at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The longtime model wore a custom remake of the mesh knit gown and the archive velvet satin cape seen at Mugler‘s Cirque d’Hiver fall 1995 collection. The ensemble was originally worn by Claudia Schiffer on the runway.

The formfitting dress featured long sleeves and horizontal stripes, creating a semi-sheer effect throughout the look. At the high neckline were layered strings of pearls, adding color and textural contrast to the ensemble. The cape draped and flowed behind Hosk in bundles of velvet and satin fabric.

When it came to the final touches of her attire, Hosk wore a pair of black pointed-toe heels. The Eberjey Mother’s Day collection campaign star forwent any pieces of standout jewelry, aside from the pearls, to maintain the sartorial statement’s focus.

Hosk’s hair was pulled back into a dramatic updo, with curls and a floral appliqué. Her makeup featured bold brows, smoky eyes and a glossy lip for added touches of drama. Hosk has worked with artist Harold James and hair stylist Hyungsun Ju on her glam. Her look was curated by stylist Dani Michelle.

Michelle also curated Hosk’s Cannes red carpet look from Tuesday. The model wore a strapless Anastasia Zadorina airy gown with feathers at the hemline. She accessorized with jewelry pieces courtesy of Chopard.
