Elle Fanning brought a bit of sunshine to the red carpet at the premiere of “A Complete Unknown” on Friday in Los Angeles. The actress portrays Bob Dylan’s girlfriend in James Mangold’s new biopic.
Fanning wore a custom strapless canary yellow Prada gown, which she accessorized with a stunning Cartier sapphire collar. Stylist Samantha McMillen, who also counts Daisy Ridley and John David Washington as clients, dressed her for the occasion.

Hairdresser Jenda styled Fanning’s blond tresses in a sleek updo, while makeup artist Erin Ayanian Monroe gave her winged liner and a bold red lip.
On Monday, Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut announced the nominees for the 2025 Golden Globes. “A Complete Unknown,” starring Timothée Chalamet as Dylan, picked up three nods, including Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama for Chalamet, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for Edward Norton and Best Motion Picture — Drama.

At the film’s Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday, Fanning channeled 1960s styling in a white Gucci gown with crystal embellishments. Fanning’s backless frock featured a square neckline and a bow appliqué, emblematic of trends throughout the decade.
Bedazzled hair ties and Cartier jewels — including a tennis bracelet and cocktail rings — completed her glamorous ensemble. The actress also wore a retro bouffant with pigtails, evoking ’60s style icon Brigitte Bardot.
Fanning also went backless at the closing ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival in May, where she wore a diaphanous Gucci dress printed with daisies. It came from the Italian label’s 2025 cruise line, which made its debut in London.
