Draganfly Flex FPV drone delivery

North American-built system supports flexible military operations with high speed, payload versatility, and mission adaptability

Draganfly’s Flex FPV System Begins Deployment with Major U.S. Prime Contractor

Draganfly Inc. has announced the first delivery of its Flex FPV (First Person View) drone systems to a major U.S. military prime contractor. The delivery supports land systems operations for allied forces and marks a key step in the company’s growing role in defense technology.

The Flex FPV platform is designed with a modular architecture that gives users the ability to change arm and propeller sizes within seconds. This design allows teams in the field to quickly adjust a single drone to meet a variety of mission needs—ranging from close-range reconnaissance to heavier payload delivery—without requiring specialized tools.

“This delivery marks an important milestone for the Flex FPV platform,” said Cameron Chell, President and CEO of Draganfly. “The system was born out of our work supporting frontline operations in Ukraine and has been refined through rigorous testing by multiple defense partners. We’re incredibly proud to see it deployed by one of the world’s top defense contractors.”

High-Speed, High-Performance Drone for Diverse Mission Sets

The Flex FPV can reach speeds over 149 kilometers per hour (about 92 miles per hour) and supports both manual FPV flight and assisted autonomous modes. These include waypoint-based missions, giving operators more control over tactical planning. With a payload capacity of up to 10 pounds, the drone can be outfitted with a variety of mission-specific gear using standard picatinny rails or custom mounting systems.

This level of flexibility makes the Flex FPV well-suited for operations in high-risk or rapidly changing environments. Potential use cases include:

  • Reconnaissance and Surveillance: The drone’s speed and agility allow it to scout ahead of troops, even in urban or dense terrain.

  • Payload Delivery: Its ability to carry up to 10 lbs makes it suitable for transporting supplies such as medical kits, communication devices, or tools to forward positions.

  • Training Exercises: The system’s modularity and flight modes make it ideal for simulation and pilot training across multiple skill levels.

  • Tactical Operations: In close-quarters or special forces missions, the system can provide critical overwatch or support specific payload deployment.

Adoption Driven by Demand for Trusted, North American UAS Platforms

Launched in 2024, the Flex FPV has been evaluated by a range of end-users in military, public safety, and training sectors. This order includes a mix of core units and modular attachments customized to the client’s specific operational requirements.

The U.S. military and allied defense agencies have been actively seeking uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) developed in North America, especially as global conflicts underscore the need for trusted, secure technology. Draganfly’s Flex FPV provides a scalable solution that aligns with current and emerging mission demands.

As geopolitical and security challenges evolve, the ability to rapidly deploy, adapt, and support drone operations in diverse environments is becoming essential. Draganfly’s latest delivery reflects a growing confidence in flexible, rugged, and domestically produced UAS platforms.
