Marc Jacobs‘ famous Kiki boot is getting a fresh reinterpretation with the help of Dr. Martens. The brands are reuniting for a collection launching Thursday, which offers utilitarian touches courtesy of Dr. Martens to the celebrity-loved edgy boot style, blending these elements with the playful sensibility of Marc Jacobs.

The Kiki boot debuted on the Marc Jacobs fall 2016 runway and became a brand signature. It’s a bold style with a statement block heel and an edgy vertical design of buckled straps down the shaft. Now Dr. Martens is reinventing the look with its signature Corran-heeled sole, laddered silver buckles and custom lock-and-key charms, which reference the labels’ past collaborations. With pricing set at $290, the style will be offered in Black, Bright Lavender and Black Croc-Embossed Analine.
The collection launches Thursday at marcjacobs.com and drmartens.com in addition to select stores; notably, the Croc Emboss Leather style is exclusive to marcjacobs.com.

The Kiki boot has been reimagined with different heights, colors and materials through the years, carving out a notable space in fashion and celebrity style. A myriad of stars have taken on the daring Kiki boot; Teyana Taylor wore them more than once recently, showcasing a black version at the NikeSkims launch event at Nike House of Innovation in New York City in September, and a gray iteration at the “One Battle After Another” Los Angeles premiere earlier in the month. Cynthia Erivo, Lady Gaga, Ice Spice, FKA Twigs and more stars have also donned the look for a variety of occasions.

Marc Jacobs and Dr. Martens have collaborated in the past, releasing in 2018 a grunge reinvention of Dr. Martens’ 1490 boot for the 25th anniversary of Marc Jacobs’ spring 1993 runway show for Perry Ellis. The brands have also turned to Dr. Martens’ platform Jadon boot, which they decked out with chains and charms. Dr. Martens has also dropped multiple collections with Heaven by Marc Jacobs, the youth-oriented subline launched in 2020.
