DeVonta Smith start or sit: Week 6 fantasy football advice

Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season is already upon us and the action will kick off on Thursday night with the Philadelphia Eagles visiting the New York Giants in an NFC East showdown at 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video.

The Eagles are undefeated no more, blowing a two-touchdown lead in the fourth quarter against the Broncos to fall in an 21-17 loss this past Sunday. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith at least had his most productive game of the season so far in the setback and he’ll try to duplicate that in this rivalry showdown.

Below, we’ll go over Smith’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 6.

Fantasy Football analysis: Eagles WR DeVonta Smith

Smith ended up hauling in a season high eight of 10 targets for 114 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Broncos, finishing as the No. 10 receiver in PPR leagues for the week with 19.4 fantasy points. The critiques of the Eagles’ passing game last week were apparently heard loud and clear with the number of looks the fourth-year receiver got in this one.

However, Smith indicated afterwards that they still weren’t in sync and related, the lack of carries Saquon Barkley got in the second half reveals an offense that is going through a bit of an identity crisis in the early stages of their Super Bowl title defense. We’ll see if they can begin to find a proper balance on a short week against a division rival.

Sit. Things seem a bit off with the Philly offense despite the team’s 4-1 record and it’s hard to imagine the unit suddenly finding a remedy with just a few day’s preparation. As far as Smith goes, he’s usually quiet on Thursday nights, averaging just three receptions for 45.8 receiving yards through five career Thursday outings. Last week was great for Smith managers, but I think they should leave him on the bench for Week 6.
