On Sunday night, many of Hollywood’s biggest stars returned to the red carpet for the 2026 Golden Globes in Los Angeles, wearing a selection of fashion-forward gowns that hit on the trends of shimmering metallics, classic black and white hues a la old-school chic, minimalism and new glamour, head-turning sheer dressing and more.
Following the awards show, the likes of Schiaparelli, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton and Vivienne Westwood shared their sketches with WWD for their 83rd annual Golden Globes red carpet looks, as seen on the likes of “Wicked: For Good” star Arianna Grande, Golden Globe winners Teyana Taylor and Erin Doherty, Emma Stone and more.
“I’m presenting — there’s no stress here, it’s all good. This is fun, a silly fun kind of day that we have to enjoy it for what it is and not make more out of it,” actress Jennifer Garner said on the red carpet during WWD’s live Eye on the Red Carpet show while wearing her custom Cong Tri gown, styled by Jordan Johnson, which took more than 1,300 hours of hand embroidery of its 330,000 2mm faceted crystal beads to create.
Louis Vuitton created four custom looks for Erin Doherty (a black silk bustier gown with draped detail), Emma Stone (a pale yellow double silk satin sleeveless top and fluid skirt with mini-pampilles fringe embroidery), Renate Reinsve (an aged gunmetal metallic tube two-piece fringed look with rounded high-neckline bustier and floor-length skirt) and Chase Infiniti.
“I have some incredible stylists, Wayman [Bannerman] and Micah [McDonald] — this is all to them and the team at Louis Vuitton. I feel Wayman and Micah definitely have a strong feel of what I like and how much I like to experiment and play with clothes, so I trusted their guidance on everything and absolutely love this look,” Infiniti, styled by Wayman + Micah, told WWD of her Louis Vuitton silver metallic hand-embroidered bustier with long velvet skirt.
Elsewhere, Kate Hudson shimmered in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé gunmetal-hued silk gown featuring a mix of crystal and silk fringe accents and Swarovski rhinestone embellished neckline.
“This came as a sketch — Armani Privé, custom, 100-plus hours into it and 40,000 crystals, or something. It’s amazing and honoring Giorgio — we all miss him so it feels nice to be in this dress,” Hudson said. “I’ve had the honor of him dressing me for so many years and how many people have walked the carpet in his designs, so it’s nice to be here wearing this.”
The brand dressed the most attendees of the night, including Julia Roberts, who was styled by Elizabeth Stewart in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé long-sleeve black silk velvet gown with structured shoulders and a plunging neckline.
“The mood is really joyous. It’s a new year, we’re all dressed up and everybody’s excited and happy,” Roberts said. “I am wearing Armani. I adored him and he was so kind and generous to me and my family for so many years. I couldn’t think of wearing anybody else tonight.”
Later in the evening, Ariana Grande, styled by Law Roach, made her red carpet appearance in a custom Vivienne Westwood Couture draped corseted gown in black raffia organza with black velvet bow detail, wrapping up her ongoing “Wicked” press tours with a nod to Cynthia Erivo’s all-black Elphaba ensembles.
“I was very excited for what I wanted to do with Schiaparelli. Me and Daniel [Roseberry] did it together. I collaborate here and there, but I am my own stylist. With the award shows, I’m going direct to designers myself, and I think it’s more personal. You get to mold it the way you want it to be, and I think that’s the best way,” Taylor told WWD of her custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture asymmetrical cutout black bustier gown in draped black satin with silver-rhinestone bijou thong and scarf neckline by Roseberry.
