Demi Lovato went Old Hollywood in black sequins at the Clive Davis and Recording Academy Pre-Grammy Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday night, wearing a cutout halter gown from Rodarte.
The shimmerng dress, which came from the label’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection, was covered in densely packed black sequins. A narrow, halter-style strap wrapped around the neck and crossed at the chest, creating a sharp teardrop-shaped cutout through the front before meeting a fitted bodice and extending into a full-length skirt. Lovato finished the look with black ankle strap pumps.

As for accessories and glam, the “Cool for the Summer” singer kept to the Old Hollywood formula with small stud earrings and a set of slim rings, while her red manicure popped against the black sequins. Her hair was styled in a deep side part with brushed waves, and her glam featured defined liner, structured brows and a neutral lip.
Rodarte’s gowns have been back in regular rotation, echoing the label’s mid-2010s run as a go-to for dark, embellished eveningwear — and lining up neatly with the “2026 is the new 2016” mood. In November 2025, Millie Bobby Brown wore a custom black lace and tulle dress with feather trim for the “Stranger Things” Season Five premiere in Los Angeles. Last month, Amanda Seyfried chose a black dress from the label’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection with a high lace neckline for the Golden Eve celebration in Beverly Hills, while Elle Fanning wore a blue floral silk dress from the spring 2026 collection during a stop onn “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”

The 2026 Pre-Grammy Gala took place at the Beverly Hilton as the Recording Academy and Clive Davis honored Republic Records founders Avery and Monte Lipman with the Grammy Salute to music industry icons, just a night ahead of the 68th Grammy Awards.
