The Atlanta Falcons host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in what should once again be a high scoring affair. They hope to have their deep threat, Darnell Mooney, but he is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury sustained early in training camp. The good news is that Mooney has been practicing in some fashion for a couple weeks now and practiced every day this week, but was limited each day. He is considered a game-time decision, but since this is an early game, we will know his status before setting our fantasy lineups.
Darnell Mooney injury updates
Mooney is listed as questionable to play against the Buccaneers due to a shoulder injury.
Fantasy football analysis
Mooney had a mini-breakout last season, as he caught 64-of-106 targets for 992 yards and five touchdowns. He did that with Kirk Cousins starting for much of the season and then rookie Michael Penix coming in to start the final four games. His fantasy upside should be higher this season, as Penix has a stronger arm than Cousins and should be able to open up the passing game a bit more.
With this game sporting a 47.5 over/under and their recent games going way over that, I expect plenty of fantasy points to go around. Last season Mooney feasted on the Buccaneers’ poor pass defense, putting up lines of 9/105/2 and 4/86/1 respectively.
At this point it seems like Mooney will play and if he does, I like starting him to get a piece of this game for fantasy.
