D’Andre Swift injury update: How to handle the Bears RB vs. Cowboys in Week 3

The Chicago Bears haven’t gotten off to the start they hoped for under new offensive minded head coach Ben Johnson. After facing the Vikings and Lions, the Bears sit at 0-2 and in desperate need of a win. This week they face a bad Cowboys defense at home, giving them a chance to get their offense going. Ans to get the offense going, they need to get their running backs going. So far lead back D’Andre Swift has rushed 29 times for 116 yards and a touchdown, adding 18 yards on six receptions from eight targets.

D’Andre Swift injury updates

Swift is dealing with a quad injury that kept him limited in every practice this week. He’s now officially questionable to play against the Cowboys.

Fantasy football analysis

The Bears face the Cowboys at home as 1.5-point home underdogs in a game with a big 50.5 point total. There should be plenty of fantasy points to go around. The Cowboys have been worse against the pass than the run, but have been bad all around. This matchup is a positive for whoever gets the lead back work for Chicago this week.

Right now, Swift has a decent chance to play after getting in some practice every day, but there is a chance he’s not 100% or is sat down. If Swift is limited or out, rookie Kyle Monangai would get the start or see an uptick in work. Last week Monangai saw an uptick in work in a game the Bears were getting blown out late, while Roschon Johnson didn’t get a touch. That means the rookie should be next in line for work.

If Swift does play, you could still take a flier on Monangai in hopes that Swift is limited, but it would be a risk. If Swift doesn’t play, Monangai becomes a much safer play. Since this game is in the late window, hopefully we’ll get some insight into Swift’s injury before lineups lock before the early games.
