Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo put a twist on their respective method dressing styles for the “Wicked” premiere on Monday in London. Throughout the film’s promotional tour, the leading ladies have embraced this trend, with Grande in pink and Erivo in green or black ensembles.
For the latest premiere, Grande broke her Glinda pink streak in a custom Ralph Lauren gown in a light lemon yellow hue. The dress featured a flowing silhouette with a cinched waist and was made from silk and tulle, with ruched elements on the skirt and bodice, which picked up traces of green as it reflected off the “Wicked” backdrop.
The bodice had a sweetheart neckline, and a tulle shawl covered Grande’s shoulders and arms with a semi-sheer effect. The “Positions” singer accessorized with glittering stud earrings and a matching necklace.
Grande’s blond hair was styled in a tight chignon and featured a sleek look by stylist Gabor Kerekes. Her makeup included a bold eye and soft pink lip by artist Michael Anthony. Grande’s look was curated by stylist Mimi Cuttrell.
Erivo drew inspiration from the runway for her dramatic look at the “Wicked” red carpet premiere in London. She wore a piece from Schiaparelli‘s fall 2024 couture collection, which debuted at Paris Fashion Week last June.
The look featured a fitted, sleeveless black bodice and a dramatically flared high-low tulle skirt, revealing a glittering pink mosaic underneath. The shimmer extended to Erivo’s tights. She completed the ensemble with black opera gloves, platform heels and Chopard jewelry, topped with a black fascinator. Her makeup was done by Joanna Simkin, and the look was curated by stylist Jason Bolden.
“Wicked” chronicles the origin story of Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West from “The Wizard of Oz.” The film is based on the Tony Award-winning musical of the same name. Jon M. Chu directs the film costarring Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey and Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh.
