Eagles rookie Cooper DeJean made one of the biggest plays of Super Bowl LIV with an incredible pick-six in the second quarter to give Philadelphia a 17-0 lead.
Patrick Mahomes, who has been struggling behind a porous offensive line for most of the night, rolled out trying to make a play before throwing across his body. DeJean made a perfect play on the ball, catching it in stride and running it back to the End Zone.
An obviously frustrated Mahomes realized the gravity of the moment, and thus far in the big game he’s struggled to make an impact against a multi-tiered Eagles’ defense that has largely dominated all three phases of the game.
The Chiefs have some serious soul-searching to do if they want to try and preserve the dream of a three-peat. As it stands, neither the offense, nor the defense has any answers to what Philly is doing.
To cap it all off it’s DeJean’s birthday, making him the second player in NFL history to score a touchdown in the Super Bowl on his birthday.
