This morning’s live flight demonstration at the Commercial UAV Expo hosted by Sundance Media Group was a resounding success, showcasing the latest in drone technology amidst a stunning desert landscape. With the sun casting long shadows over the grassy fields, attendees were treated to a series of impressive aerial performances that highlighted the capabilities of cutting-edge UAV systems.

A bustling crowd surrounds the various exhibition tents as drone enthusiasts and professionals explore the latest offerings at the Expo.

A Gathering of Industry Professionals

The event drew a large crowd, with industry professionals from across the globe gathering under tents to witness the latest advancements in drone technology. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as teams prepared their drones for demonstration flights, each showcasing unique features and capabilities. The outdoor setting provided the perfect backdrop, with the surrounding mountains adding to the spectacle.

Highlights of the Demonstration

Several companies stood out during the live demonstrations, offering a glimpse into the future of UAV technology.

Frontier Precision showcased their latest survey-grade fixed-wing solution, the Quantum Systems Trinity Pro equipped with the Phase One P5 sensor. This system, capable of capturing images at 120 megapixels with up to 3 frames per second, demonstrated its potential for high-precision aerial mapping and surveying. Additionally, Frontier Precision presented the YellowScan LiDAR sensor, designed for underwater and ground topography exploration. Mounted on the Freefly Systems’ Alta X, this sensor impressed with its ability to penetrate water to a depth of 2 secchi and provide a 44-degree field of view.

AERIALOOP’s ALT6D VTOL drone, showcasing its advanced capabilities, is displayed on the grass as participants engage in discussions nearby.

AERIALOOP captivated the audience with their ALT6D VTOL drone, which has already completed over 14,000 flights in Quito, Ecuador, operating at an impressive altitude of 10,000 feet. The demonstration highlighted the drone’s versatility in logistics and ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) capabilities, underscoring its reliability in high-altitude environments.

Inspired Flight brought forward their IF800 Tomcat, integrated with the Gremsy VIO F1 thermal sensor. This demonstration emphasized the drone’s enhanced situational awareness and accuracy, particularly through the use of thermal sensors. The platform’s modularity was further showcased through the hot-swapping capabilities of the Sony ILX-LR1 sensor, allowing for quick adaptation to different mission requirements. The company also provided insights into their new Ground Control Station software, Inspired Ground Control (IGC), highlighting its user-centric design and enhanced mission planning capabilities.
