Cole Haan Launches GrandPro Tennis 2.0, Ten Years After Original Debut

Cole Haan is updating its bestselling court sneaker style 10 years after the company launched the original GrandPrø Tennis shoe model.

Initially revealed in 2016, the GrandPrø Tennis aimed to reimagine the classic leather court sneaker with a lightweight construction. Now the brand is taking the silhouette one step further and unveiling the GrandPrø Tennis 2.0 model.

“One thing about the launch 10 years ago that we’re proud of is that we’re able to affect things like construction, weight, and comfort through innovation, which is a great accomplishment,” Scott Patt, chief creative officer at Cole Haan, told WWD’s sister publication FN in an interview. “The shoe has since become one of our most successful sneakers in the history of the company. So when we find ourselves 10 years later, we did want to take the opportunity to celebrate that milestone and what it means to the brand.”

Patt explained that the foundation of the updated model is the use of the brand’s new FeatherFeel Cushioning Platform, which is described as a 360-degree design that gives a lighter, energetic feel underfoot while providing the durability and dependable traction of a full rubber outsole. This was done by rebalancing foam density, refining construction and strategically removing unnecessary elements, the company noted.

“GrandPrø Tennis 2.0 was shaped by what we’ve heard from our customers over the years — they want comfort and style without compromise,” Krissie Millan, chief marketing officer at Cole Haan, added. “GrandPrø Tennis 2.0 delivers on that. As we head into a new year, that’s exactly what this sneaker is designed to do: keep up and feel easy, so you’re ready for whatever comes next.”

Innovations like these are “the backbone of what makes the company,” Patt said. “In 2028, Cole Haan will be 100 years old. And looking back on those 100 years, providing innovations that just make consumers lives better has always been a part of what we do.”

The launch of the new GrandPrø Tennis 2.0 signals Cole Haan’s continued momentum in the sneaker marketplace. Sneakers now represent over 35 percent of the brand’s global footwear sales with growth across casual, performance and emerging lifestyle categories, and planned expansion in 2026.

“When we think about the different use occasions that consumers wear sneakers for — whether that’s performance or lifestyle — we are focused on continuing to go along with consumers on that journey with what they need,” Patt added. “We’ve got some really cool things coming up, and I would say you’re going to see a couple things from Cole Haan coming down the road that really announce our place within sneakers in a very bold way in the near future.”

To mark the 10-year milestone, the first drop of GrandPrø Tennis 2.0 debuts in classic white leather with green heel-tab detailing and limited-edition anniversary branding, followed by additional colorways in ivory, gold and black. The global launch campaign, “Feel Lighter Than Ever,” aims to highlight the sneaker’s refined construction and everyday versatility.

Cole Haan’s new GrandPrø Tennis 2.0 sneaker assortment, which retails between $150 and $170, is now available globally exclusively at Colehaan.com and select Cole Haan stores. Expanded distribution to retail partners will take place in February, with additional colorways dropping in March.
