Ciara turned up to the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday in New York with designer Vera Wang. The two were matching in white and black looks of Wang’s own design.
Ciara’s look included a white tank top. The simple piece included thick straps and matched her opera gloves. A pop of color contrast came from her black skirt. The top of the skirt was styled as a pair of trousers with a waistband and fly. Then, the pants turned into a skirt with two large splits, one around the front and one around the back; and the material folded over in a nearly full circle silhouette. Ciara paired it with Bebe’s black platform Sienna boot — she recently collaborated with the brand — and rectangular dark shades.
The outfit is from Wang’s spring 2024 collection, which is her personal take on evening dressing. “My intention was to curate my own interpretation of some of the more obvious tropes of evening fashion such as tuxedo dressing, ballgowns, romantic dresses and lingerie inspired pieces…all intended to be viewed not just from the front or back but from a 360-degree perspective,” the designer wrote of the range. “There is also great focus on the interplay between tailoring and fluidity.
Posing alongside Ciara, Wang wore a thin black bandeau top with Y-neck white halter dress. Made of stretch cupro, the gown was a custom version of a design from the spring 2024 collection as well.
Ciara recently released a capsule collaboration with Bebe, which featured knitwear, outerwear, handbags and more. “It’s a pinch yourself kind of moment,” the Grammy-winning artist told WWD of the opportunity. “I think back to me being a young girl and knowing how much brands like Bebe were a part of my world.”
The 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards took place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on Monday, with Cynthia Erivo hosting. Honorees at this year’s ceremony included Coach, Michael Kors, Annie Leibovitz and Erykah Badu, who received the coveted Fashion Icon Award.
