The National Mother’s Day Committee will honor four women across the entertainment, retail, apparel and technology industries at the 48th Annual Outstanding Mother Awards on May 7.
The honorees are Ciara, multiplatinum, Grammy-winning singer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist; Denise Magid, chief merchant, Bloomingdale’s; Jennifer Foyle, president, executive creative director, American Eagle and Aerie, and Jill Hazelbaker, chief marketing officer and senior vice president, communications and public policy, Uber.
The annual luncheon, which will be held at 583 Park Avenue in New York, recognizes women who balance influential careers with commitments to family and community. Proceeds from this year’s luncheon benefit No Kid Hungry, a national campaign of Share Our Strength, an organization committed to ending hunger and poverty in the U.S. and abroad.
The luncheon will once again be hosted by Joanna Coles, chief content officer of The Daily Beast.

“The Outstanding Mother Awards are an opportunity to recognize women who lead with both purpose and heart,” said Nance Hastings, Outstanding Mother Award committee chairperson. “This year’s honorees have achieved extraordinary professional success while remaining deeply devoted to their families and communities. We are honored to celebrate them and to raise virtual funds for No Kid Hungry’s mission to end childhood hunger.”

The awards event will feature a live auction led by celebrity auctioneer Billy Harris. This year, the committee will introduce a new honor: the “Rock Star Mom,” chosen by No Kid Hungry in partnership with LIFT-New York. LIFT is a national nonprofit organization that partners with parents to end generational poverty by providing one-on-one coaching and direct cash support to parents, helping them set and achieve goals to strengthen family stability, and put their families on the path toward economic mobility.

This year’s inaugural Rock Star mom honoree is Giselle Veloz, senior program manager at LIFT-NY. A former LIFT mom and New York State license eligible mental health counselor, Veloz is an advocate for social justice who has dedicated her career to addressing systemic inequalities and empowering low-income communities throughout New York City.
The National Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council, Inc. has donated more than $39 million to family-related charities nationwide since its inception.
