The Green Bay Packers head into a key Week 17 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens and they’re dealing with some kind of bug in the locker room. Five players have shown up on the injury report with an illness. Wide receiver Christian Watson is among them. He is also dealing with an ongoing shoulder injury as well.
The Packers and Ravens kick off at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday. Inactives will be announced at 6:30 p.m.
Christian Watson injury update
Watson was a full participant in practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, listed specifically with the shoulder injury. On Thursday, he sat out practice with an illness added to his designation. All five players that had illness added to the report missed at least one practice this week.
Fantasy football analysis
It’s possible with an illness that a player is active and then gets sick again during the game. While that’s possible, if he’s active you should assume he’s good to go. The Ravens rank in the bottom third of the league for fantasy points allowed against wide receivers. Watson has been inconsistent this season. He had a pair of big performances in Week 13 and 14, but that’s the only time this season he has had consecutive double digit fantasy points performances. He ranks in the WR3 range right now. If you were planning on starting him before the illness, stick with that. If you were not planning on starting him, don’t start him. He’s sufficiently recovered from the shoulder injury and his illness likely isn’t enough of an issue to impact his performance.
