Chiefs stop Josh Allen on 4th-down sneak in latest controversial call in NFL Playoffs

NFL fans tend to believe that the Kansas City Chiefs get every call from the refs. KC was on the favorable end of questionable roughing the passer call in their win over the Houston Texans in the NFL Playoffs last week, and the trend has continued against the Buffalo Bills in the 2025 AFC Championship Game.

The refs awarded the Chiefs a catch in the first half when the Bills tied up Xavier Worthy in the air and appeared to breakup the pass. In the fourth quarter, another questionable call went the Chiefs way when the team stopped Josh Allen at midfield on a fourth-and-1. Allen went for the QB sneak, and at first it seemed like the refs marked him ahead of the first down line. Instead, Allen came up inches short, and the Bills turned the ball over the Chiefs.

Here’s another look at the play:

The Chiefs took the ball down the field after gaining possession and immediately punched it in the end zone on a long Patrick Mahomes run. This 4th-and-1 call is going to be remembered if the Bills lose.

Did the refs make the right call? It’s hard to say. I thought the Chiefs stopped Allen before the line when watching the play on TV, but the replays make it look like Allen might have gotten it.

This is another classic in the Bills/Chiefs rivalry. This is as good as football gets right now.
