Augustinus Bader has built a reputation for combining groundbreaking skin care science with luxury formulations in a way that earns new releases near-instant praise from celebrities and the aestheticians that tend to their complexions. Known for its signature TFC8 technology — a blend of amino acids and vitamins that help the skin repair itself — the brand has now applied its patented complex to a full-face treatment: the Augustinus Bader Hydrogel Face Masks, which are available to shop now on the brand’s website as well as retailers like Nordstrom.
These luxury sheet masks promise the same benefits as the brand’s coveted under-eye patches, which have already become a favorite of celebrities like Dua Lipa and are favored by facialists to prep stars like Zoe Saldaña and Charli XCX for red carpet appearances. With the Hydrogel Face Mask, Augustinus Bader extends the under-eye masks’ benefits to the entire face, providing a quick at-home facial experience designed to hydrate, smooth, and subtly brighten skin.

The Hydrogel Face Masks also feature the same hydrogel material that makes the brand’s under-eye patches such a game-changer: it adheres comfortably to the skin, creating a seal that allows active ingredients to penetrate deeply and effectively. The aforementioned TFC8 technology works in tandem with this material for max benefits.
For those already loyal to the Augustinus Bader line, this mask is a seamless extension of their routine. However we also rate the Hydrogel Face Masks as a great intro to the brand for newcomers — read on for our testing review.

Augustinus Bader Sheet Mask Review — Editor Testing Notes
Augustinus Bader’s new face masks are as calming and cooling as you’d expect from a brand responsible for one of the most popular luxury face creams of the decade. The hydrogel material clings to my skin without lifting around the edges or sliding down my face during the 15 to 20 minutes I wear it.

For those familiar with Augustinus Bader’s under-eye patches, this mask extends the same level of benefits to your entire complexion. After wearing the mask for a full 20 minutes, I removed it to reveal skin that felt plump, hydrated, and smooth. It’s worth noting that I tested this mask in the dead of winter, when I’d been loading up my skin with hydrating face serums and deeply moisturizing face creams and was still left with a complexion that felt tight and dehydrated. Yes, the Augustinus Bader face mask is designed to support an anti-aging skin care routine, but I found it particularly helpful for quashing chronic dryness.

What’s most impressive is how versatile this mask is, somehow solving the complexion concern that feels most prominent to you at the moment, be it winter time dryness, sallow skin, or exacerbated fine lines. While a pack of six goes for $180, you can also opt for a singular mask priced at $32, palatable for those who want to try out Augustinus Bader without splurging on a full-sized product.
Whether it’s for an instant glow before a big event or a calming retreat at home, I can confirm that — unlike many flimsy face masks on the market — this one actually does what it promises.
