Update 2: Skattebo has suffered a dislocated ankle according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport and has been taken to a local hospital in Philadelphia. His 2025 season is most likely over, but we should get official word later.
Update: If wasn’t already apparent, Skattebo has been officially ruled out for the rest of Sunday’s game against the Eagles. We now wait to see how long he’ll be sidelined.
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles and had to be carted off the field. The rookie went up for a reception against Eagles linebacker Zach Baun and landed awkwardly with teammates immediately signaling for help from the Giants’ training staff.
This is major blow to the Giants as Skattebo had been heating up as multifaceted weapon within the offense in recent weeks. The rookie out of Arizona State had entered Week 8’s matchup in Philly with 398 rushing yards, 189 receiving yards, and six total touchdowns for the year. He was even making his mark in Sunday’s game prior to the gruesome injury, hauling in an 18-yard touchdown reception that put the G-Men on the board in the first quarter.
With his day over, Tyrone Tracy Jr. will handle duties as New York’s lead running back.
Note: This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available regarding Skattebo’s status.
