About The Role
This role is based at our Bristol office, the Bristol team at Callen-Lenz provide high integrity flight and mission solutions for Unmanned Aerial Systems and Urban Air Mobility ecosystems.
In the role of Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to the definition of architectures, development of processes, implementation of source code for Auto Pilot, Flight Control and Mission systems. Additionally, you will be involved in estimation of project milestones and providing guidance to junior members of the team, depending on your preferences and experience.
Role Responsibilities
- Contribute to software architectural design
- Contribute to the definition of software high-level and low-level requirements
- Software implementation in an embedded environment
- Configure and utilise auto-coder to generate code from Simulink model
- Liaising with external hardware and software suppliers
- Participate in peer reviews
- Writing technical documentation
- Work within a cross-functional team to achieve project goals
- Perform other related duties as required
About You
Qualifications: Degree in an applicable field (aerospace, automation, medical, automotive, robotics, computer science, physics, etc.)
Skills:
Essential
- Experience of working to RTCA DO-178
- Experienced in embedded C programming
- Understanding of using auto-code generators
- Understanding of hardware design, as required to perform the role
- Experience of hardware and register level debugging
- Understanding of real-time software systems
- Experience of working with avionics communications protocols
- Experienced in configuration management and bug-tracking tools
- Experienced in writing code to MISRA-C standard
- Proficient in spoken and written English
Desirable
- Experience of implementing software safety features such as Watchdogs
- Experience of working with different processor architectures
- DOORS requirements management tool
- Experience of using analysis tools such as LDRA or similar
- Developing software in an agile framework
- Experience working with redundant systems
- Experience of hypervisors
Personal Attributes
- Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK
- Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK
- Ability to commit to national and international travel
- Team player who is capable of working autonomously
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- A professional and proactive approach
