Bruce Springsteen has released his cover of the 2015 Jesse Malin âShe Donât Love Me Now.â The new song appears on the forthcoming covers compilation Silver Patron Saints. Find the track below.
Springsteen is among the many artists paying tribute to Malin across Silver Patron Saints. Proceeds from the album will go to the New York musicianâs Sweet Relief fund, which was set up after he sustained, in 2023, a rare and sudden spinal stroke that left him paralyzed from the waist down.
Springsteen recorded âShe Donât Love Me Nowâ with Malinâs back band and his own E Street Band saxophonist, Jake Clemons. âBruce gave it that Stax-soul-thing that we were dreaming of when we recorded the original,â Malin remarked in a press statement. âItâs so surreal to me.â
Malin and Springsteen previously collaborated on the 2007 track âBroken Radio,â which got reissued, in 2022, as âBroken Radio â22.â Further discussing Springsteen, Malin stated, âBruceâs generosity, honesty, and support are equally as powerful as his songwriting and performing. Bruce is one of the guys. He walks it like he talks it. You spend some time with him, and it feels like youâve known him for years. Heâs like my friends in Queens, sitting around talking about Sinatra, the Clash, and the Pogues. He has that passion and excitement for life.â
Silver Patron Saints is out September 20. It features Bleachers, Spoon, Dinosaur Jr., the Hold Steady, Susanna Hoffs, Green Dayâs Billie Joe Amstrong, and more.
