Bottega Veneta Moves into the Meatpacking District With New Store

Bottega Veneta has moved into New York’s Meatpacking District with a new store at 58 Gansevoort Street that officially opens Saturday.

The 3,358-square-foot store carries men’s and women’s bags, ready-to-wear, shoes and small leather goods, as well as eyewear, jewelry, fragrance and travel collections. Bottega Veneta is owned by French luxury group Kering.

Neighbors in the Meatpacking District include Saint Laurent, Gucci, Hermès, Diane von Furstenberg and Loro Piana.

The Bottega Veneta store interior features a calm, elevated scheme of concrete flooring and walls, natural oak shelves, and shelf and panel details in green Verde Saint Denis marble. Alongside custom display cabinets and shelving, the furniture includes pieces by Jorge Zalszupin and Lea Colombo, while a glass vase by Orsoni — operational in Venice since 1888 — is reminiscent of Bottega Veneta’s roots.

A special display cabinet highlights the brand’s signature color palette as well as the craft behind the house’s signature Intrecciato weave, first introduced 50 years ago..

The store design also honors the cultural vitality of the Meatpacking District and Bottega Veneta’s long-standing connection with creative practice in New York. A curation of artworks is accompanied by an extensive in-store library with a focus on poetry and painting. Featured books include Robert Rauschenberg’s illustrations for Dante’s “Inferno,” Etel Adnan’s “Between East & West,” and Ed Roberson’s “Road Poems.”

In addition to the Meatpacking District, Bottega Veneta has stores in New York City on Madison Avenue, the N.Y. Residence (a private client space by appointment only that is located on the fifth floor of their Madison Avenue location), SoHo and Brookfield Place. It also has shops at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s.

Overall, there are 51 Bottega Veneta stores in the U.S., including the new Meatpacking one.
