Blackpink’s Lisa Adds Fairy-Tale Spin to Clear Shoe Trend in Margiela

Lisa of Blackpink gave the clear shoe trend its most surreal turn yet at the 30th Busan International Film Festival on Wednesday, stepping out in transparent Tabi boots by Maison Margiela.

The ankle-high silhouette, most likely bespoke, kept the maison’s cult split toe intact but swapped leather for clear PVC, set on angled wedge heels in the same see-through finish. The effect turned the already distinctive Tabi into something that looked plucked from a glass-slipper fantasy.

She paired the boots with a Margiela Artisanal 2025 gown in sheer tulle, its surface scattered with pastel florals that gave the dress a storybook feel. A high neckline and long sleeves grounded the romance, while Bulgari earrings completed the soft, floral ensemble.

The “Born Again” singer’s footwear choices this season have spanned fantasy and function. She brought Cinderella sparkle to the Emmys in Louboutin’s Miss Z Strass pumps, a pivot from Gianvito Rossi’s leather Ascott boots on Blackpink’s “Deadline” tour last month, using their structure to steady a punk-leaning look.

Her Margiela Tabis also link her directly to one of 2025’s most visible (or rather, invisible) footwear trends. Rita Ora debuted Sportmax’s plexiglass wedges in SoHo this July, Camila Mendes chose Gianvito Rossi’s transparent Elle stilettos for a Los Angeles premiere weeks later, and Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Lopez and Elle Fanning have all rotated through translucent pumps and sandals across carpets.

Margiela’s version, however, takes the conversation further. Instead of simply adding a PVC strap or lucite heel, the maison recast the entire boot in transparency, pushing its split-toe icon into high-concept clarity — halfway between fairy tale and fashion experiment.

Celebrating its 30th year, the Busan International Film Festival runs Sept. 17 to 26. Opening with Park Chan-wook’s “No Other Choice,” the lineup includes 14 films by emerging Asian directors in competition, alongside retrospectives and global premieres.
