Benny Blanco, Wiz Khalifa & More Attend Boiler Room Party in L.A.

Boiler Room, the traveling dance club, came to Los Angeles on Friday night in partnership with Pizzaslime, the meme and apparel brand.

It was hosted at The Supermrkt, Los Angeles’ new home for dance music; it’s a pop-up venue, open from September to November, that was created by event collective Stranger Than. The space was formerly a grocery store and has been converted into an attraction that holds up to 3,200 guests. Located at 4317 Beverly Boulevard, it had a soft unveiling in May when music artist and DJ Gordo brought nearly 3,000 attendees to a 14-hour-long show, held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

On Friday, the official opening, the night began at 9 p.m. with a set from Quinn Blake, followed by Sophie Gray & Honey, and Fifi b2b Blaketheman1000. Then came the surprise: Benny Blanco. The record producer and songwriter, who’s behind endless pop hits — and currently making headlines for dating Selena Gomez — showed up for an unexpected appearance, to the delight of the crowd. A foodie, who’s known to share recipes on social media, he had chef Yusuke Yamamoto of Beverly Hill’s Sushi Yamamoto by his side, sharing the stage while toasting to sake and enjoying slices of tuna sashimi.

Canadian music producer Murda Beatz took over the turntable next, as did music artist Mike Will Made It and DJ Ramsey Austin — until the early-morning hours. Guests included rappers Wiz Khalifa and Rich the Kid; actor Dylan Minnette; “Euphoria” actress Chloe Cherry; model Isabella Elei, and music artist Finneas with Claudia Sulewski.

Boiler Room, which started as a webcam taped to a wall in 2010, giving the internet a glimpse of London’s underground music scene, has grown to host more than 8,000 performances by more than 5,000 artists in 200 cities, reaching more than 283 million fans a month.
