It’s the greatest crossover we never knew we needed. Actor Patrick Renna, best known for playing Hamilton ‘Ham’ Porter in The Sandlot made a stunning appearance for the Savannah Bananas over the weekend, where he was expectedly met with some of the biggest cheers of the night.
The Great Hambino didn’t exactly have the greatest at bat, struggling with the first two pitches, before getting out on a rather anemic flare — but that’s not important. The key part here is that the Bananas remain the best show in sports, and doing more stuff like this what baseball is all about.
Talk to anyone about their sport plans for the summer and if the Bananas are coming to town, they’re going — or at least trying to go, because getting tickets is so difficult to secure. It’s truly mystifying that nobody prior to the Bananas thought “what if we made the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball?”
