Asher White Announces New Album, Shares New Song: Listen

Asher White, the New York–via–Providence singer-songwriter with 15 albums in her back pocket, has announced another new album. 8 Tips for Catastrophe Living is out September 12 via Joyful Noise. Leading her debut LP on the label is the new song “Beers With My Name on Them.” Give it a listen below.

8 Tips for Catastrophe Living spans nine songs and follows 2024’s Home Constellation Study. Describing the backstory of the album, White said, in a press statement, “The idea of tips for catastrophe is really funny to me. I was interested in making something that sounds like a self-help book, but it’s actually about self-destruction. In full catastrophe living, you just have to do a bunch of whippets. This album is mostly about doing whippets. I’m not even kidding.”

When breaking the news of her signing to Joyful Noise in April, White released the standalone single “Kratom Headache Girls Night,” on which she serves as a musician, arranger, and producer. She also worked on a collaborative single with Caroline Rose and Eli Winter for Transa, the huge benefit compilation spearheaded by Red Hot Organization to represent a “spiritual journey celebrating trans people.”

Later this month, White will head out on a short tour of the Northeast. Beginning on June 25, she will open for Deerhoof in Hamden, Connecticut, as well as in Boston and Amherst, Massachusetts. On June 29, she then heads to Brooklyn, New York, to play a show with Grumpy. Find White’s full list of tour dates below.
