Anthony Edwards, Adidas to Launch Budget Friendly Believe That Sneaker

Anthony Edwards and Adidas will introduce a budget basketball sneaker with a name that’s already proven money.

The Adidas Believe That is a takedown model for Edwards’ signature line that will retail for just $100 for adult sizing and $80 for children, coming in $30 and $20 cheaper than the Anthony Edwards 2 in the respective sizing. Core concepts carry over from Edwards’ two signature models through large synthetic cages running down its sides, as well as the shapes of its toe box. The mustache carries a similar shape to the Anthony Edwards 1, and the tongue and heel branding placements also mirror the other two.

Five wavey stripes are cut into the cage for a distinct approach to breathability, and one of two colorways leaked features pink, black and silver colorblocking that closely follows previous patterns. The other is rendered more uniformly in black, with the exception of a few gray hits for the branding and the inside of the cage. A mark on the midsole also tips off a switch from a combination of Boost and Lightstrike cushioning to Dreamstrike.

Takedown models are a common phenomenon for successful signature athletes, previously seen under Adidas through Damian Lillard’s line. In addition to his hero Nike series, LeBron James actually has two takedown franchises at different price points, dubbed Witness and Nxxt Gen.

“Believe That” has been the tag line for Edwards’ and Adidas’ well-received and often antagonistic marketing initiatives dating back to their first ad.

That Adidas Believe That is expected to release June 1 and will likely be available through Adidas’ website and select third-party retailers.
