Angela Bassett Dons Lacy Little Black Dress for ‘Zero Day’ Premiere

Angela Bassett put a sensual spin on the little black dress for her attire at the red carpet premiere of Netflix‘s “Zero Day” on Tuesday in New York City. The venerated actress was joined by costars Robert De Niro, Connie Britton, Lizzy Caplan and more.

The “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” star wore a dress featuring a hemline just below the knee with a slight sweetheart neckline and banded waist for added definition. Her dress also featured ornate lace detailing on the sleeves and bodice with botanical inspiration and semi-sheer detailing.

Bassett paired the dress with black silk gloves and wore black tights and black platform heels to complete her monochrome look.

While on the red carpet, Bassett added a touch of the mob wife trend, wearing a leopard print coat with a soft collar and voluminous design. As for her glam, Bassett’s hair was styled with mod inspiration, worn straight and down with fringe to frame her face.

Bassett’s makeup included such details as a smokey eye with long lashes, a glowing complexion and a glossy lip. She further accessorized her attire with a pair of gold statement earrings to complete the red carpet look.

Variations of the little black dress, a longtime wardrobe staple popularized in the 1920s, have been iterated for years. Most recently, Ciara opted for her own take on the style with a touch of sheer dressing at Tory Burch‘s fall 2025 fashion show during New York Fashion Week. Other high-profile stars who’ve gravitated toward the little black dress of late include Lily Collins during her “Emily in Paris” press tour and more.
